Ex-GA Tech employee sentenced for P-card abuse

ATLANTA (AP) - A former accountant at the Georgia Institute of technology has been sentenced to three years and eight months in
federal prison for buying $316,000 worth of personal merchandise
with a university credit card.
.
Donna Renee Gamble of Marietta pleaded guilty May 13 to charges on mail fraud and theft from an organization receiving federal
funds.

The money came from National Science Foundation grants to
Georgia Tech.

The 43-year-old Gamble admitted purchasing more than 3,800
personal items, including a $1,900 margarita mixer, over a
five-year period using her state-issued procurement card or
P-card which was authorized only for official business purchases.

She created phony receipts and made false entries in accounting
records to conceal the charges.
