Richmond County Board of Education reaches out to parents

By Dustin Blanchard dblanchard@nbcaugusta.com

Parent empowerment was the goal of the Richmond County Board of Education Tuesday night.

Board members and administrators met with parents and answered their questions about a number of issues.

The primary focus of the meeting was improving math and science scores to help students pass state testing, but organizers have broader aims

"Hopefully to get the parents more involved and make them more knowledgable as to how they can help their children," said board member Barbara Pulliam.

Pulliam says the district will hold another parent empowerment meeting later this school year.
