Most of the residents of a public housing complex, forced to move, now have a new place to call home. Only six people still remain at Gilbert Manor.

"You feel like it's a ghost town around here right now," Anthony Williams, one of Gilbert Manor’s last six, said.

He has called the complex home for 17 years. Now he's down to his final days there. Williams said he's excited to move but still it's bittersweet.

“You miss any place that you stayed that long. The memories they're always going to be there,” Williams said.

He requires a wheelchair accessible apartment. Williams also lives alone and only needs one bedroom. According to Buddy Oldfield of the Augusta Housing Authority a lack of one bedroom units has delayed all of the final residents from moving.

“The last six I got are all one bedroom apartments and there's always a shortage of those but I'll have those coming up next week,” Oldfield said.

Although Williams is ready to go he says he will miss Gilbert Manor.

“The hospital was close, stores that you're used to going to, the surroundings,” Williams said.

But he's looking forward to the perks of a brand new facility.

“More room for me to move around,” Williams said. “You just have to go on and make new memories.”

According to the Housing Authority all those residents should be moved out by the end of next week.
