Columbia County's Republican Party was busy preparing for the November election.

They unofficially opened doors Saturday to pass out McCain campaign signs.

They said they are excited about John McCain's Vice Presidential announcement, which is expected late next week.

The party's chair gave her opinion of Obama's vice presidential pick.

“To me I don’t see it giving him a big boost or anything. Everybody thinks he’s a nice solid person. He does give some balance to the ticket,” Debbie McCord said.

Columbia County's Republican Party headquarters does not officially open until September 2nd.

At that time they'll start recruiting volunteers to campaign for McCain.

Sarah is a brilliant pick. She's not a wimp and already is the object of scorn and ridicule by a desperate liberal base. Obama's change means going back to FDR and Jimmy Carter politics. Remember what Carter didn't do for Georgia?
