The first-ever Westobou Festival is taking over Augusta for 10 days.
It aims to have something for everyone.

It's the start of 10 days of music, but the opening night's starkest sound was silent awe.

"It is amazing," Said Lourdes Neely Coleman. "If you're moving, it looks like they're standing still, but once you stand still, you see they're moving."

The 'Slow Dancing' exhibition was an early favorite of a long list of shows and events.

"We have children's choirs, school choirs are participating," said organizer Kathi Dimmock. "Art galleries are open on Broad, potters, anything a family would like to do is included in the Westobou festival."

The festival will have art and food, and even a history lesson.

"Westobou festival comes from the fact that in the 1600's the Westo indians used to live on the banks of the Savannah and it was called the Westobou," said Dimmock

That just leaves one big problem.

"Here's my schedule," Coleman said. "There's not enough time to try to do it all . . . just not enough time."

Other highlights of Westobou include Nikki Giovanni, Lyle Lovett, Wycliffe Gordon and The Complexions Contemporary Ballet of New York.
