Fuel relief could be in sight

By NBCAugusta Reporters

Colonial Pipeline, which operates a fuel facility in North Augusta, says fuel is flowing at the same rate as before Hurricanes Ike and Gustav caused so many problems.

However, we won't be seeing the fuel situation return to normal quite yet.

John Butler, the president of Augusta's Koger-Walters Oil company, tells NBC Augusta 26 News his company didn't ship any gasoline today, and its share from the pipeline is still restricted.

He says things should return to normal sometime during the next two weeks.

Our Oil Company delivers BP gasoline. BP allocates their product weekly. After the huricane, nearly 26 BP refineries were shut down and the Colonial pipeline was closed. BP reduced it's allocation in hopes that everyone would get enough gas to deliver to various areas of the region. Augusta's demand was so high that we reached our limit earlier than expected. As a result, gas stations were empty. Now that the pipeline is up and running, it will be 6 days for normal fuel flow to supply our area.

What do you mean by "and its share from the pipeline is still restricted." What and why is that?
