Wednesday's debate might have been the last good opportunity for the candidates to sway undecided voters.
And that might be especially significant in Georgia-Carolina.
The latest CNN / Time poll shows McCain with an 8 point lead in Georgia, 53 to 45.
But a SurveyUSA poll shows Obama winning in Georgia early voting so far by 6 points -- 52 to 46.
In both cases, the results show a close race, and mean its crunch time for both sides.
"We're making phone calls to identify supporters, canvassing door to door. Now we're focusing on get out the vote," said Amelia Bower. She says this election, and Barack Obama, inspired her to get more involved than she ever imagined.
"I stopped in to get a bumper sticker and ended up staying all day and every day since," Bower said.
Jason Freeman is volunteering for the first time too. He's for John McCain.
"I'm ready to jump in and get more people out to the polls," he said.
Freeman and Bower both say the tight race has inspired them to work harder and they agree the economy is the top issue in '08. But they don't agree on who has the best plan or who will win in Georgia.
"Hopefully we get a big turnout," Freeman said. "Hopefully we can get Georgia to vote for McCain."
"I think Obama is doing excellent in Georgia," said Bower. "I think we're going back to being a blue state."
The last time a Democratic Presidential candidate won Georgia was 1992.
It's too soon to tell which way it will go this year, but both sides say they've seen a lot of enthusiasm.
Obama's Augusta office says it gets about 30 volunteers a day. McCain's Columbia County office says it has about that many making phone calls.
