Murdered teen's mother reacts to the capture of her son's alleged killers

SARDIS, Ga. - The mother of a Burke County High School student killed this weekend says she is relieved that her son's alleged killers are in jail tonight.

Simpson Tyrone Cates Junior, who's 16 years-old, was found shot to death in his mother's car in Sardis, Georgia, Saturday.

Burke County deputies arrested Christopher Derik Chance Sunday morning. His cousin, 16-year-old Tray Sapp, later turned himself in.

Both men are in Burke County's jail charged with the murder of Tyrone Cates.

Investigators say the crime was likely drug related.

Cates' family says he was a good kid and a hard worker.

Sarah Walker, Cates’ mother, says she's just glad her son's alleged killers are off of the streets.

"I'm feeling some relief, maybe I can get some sleep tonight knowing that they are behind bars and his sister, maybe she'll feel better about it too," said Walker.

There is no word yet of a court date for Sapp and Chance.

The family of Cates is planning funeral arrangements for him later this week.

Drugs Drugs Drugs when are these kids going to learn that this will get you killed. 16 yrs old now facing life in prison. Why are these kids of OURS doing this to one another. Is it greed? Is it lack of teaching? Is is lack of morals? Is is because the parents are still babies themselves? What happend to it takes a village to raise a child? I am thankful to my neighbors who get onto my child when she is acting up. More people need to stop saying not my child. Wake up world.
