AUGUSTA, Ga. - Augusta narcotics officers say they made their biggest drug bust of the year on Monday. Officers say a K-9 sniffed out nearly $250,000 in cocaine.

A traffic officer pulled over Jorge Alberto Valladares for driving 15 miles above the posted speed limit on Interstate 20. The officer said Valladares gave him conflicting information during the traffic stop.

A K-9 officer from the sheriff’s office arrived as a backup and the K-9 alerted the rear of the vehicle. A closer check of the vehicle revealed a hidden compartment on the vehicle.

"The dog found the drugs here, four kilos of cocaine, which has a street value of $250, 000," said Lt. Robert Partain of Richmond County's Narcotics Division.

Deputies say Valladares told them he was from Duluth, Georgia. Investigators are now trying to determine if he was in the country legally. Valladares is charged with trafficking cocaine, speeding and driving without a license.

Congratulations. Great job! I hope the shipment wasn't meant for someone in Augusta, or someone's going to be really cranky very soon when they don't get it. I hope this bust leads to more busts. Hopefully when these guys get desperate they will make some errors in judgment leading to their arrests.

thats some BS We got to make our living out here on the street if the government would do there jobs and keep illegal people from stealing our jobs then maybe there would be less people selling drugs on the street. Some of us have no choice but to sell drugs. We dont make people by them they just do. They make it so hard for low income people to get jobs and support their families.
