Red Cross assisting storm victims in Georgia-Carolina

AUGUSTA, Ga.- NBC Augusta 26 News has learned the Red Cross is assisting Richmond County residents at the Bernie Ward Community Center on Lumpkin Road in south Augusta.

Officials say the Aiken County chapter has a relief location site set up at Jackson Middle School on Atomic Road.

Red Cross volunteers in Burke County are stationed at the county's Emergency Management Agency office on Highway 24 South in Waynesboro.

A line of severe weather ripped through most of Georgia-Carolina Friday night. 26 News has received reports of at least one death and significant damage in Richmond, Columbia, Burke, McDuffie, Aiken and Allendale counties.

The Salvation Army was out feeding in Aiken County tonight and did a great job. I didn't see the Red Cross out there at all tonight. Looks like they packed their bags and the Army came in and did a great job!
