UPDATE: Accident victim worked as chaplain at University Hospital

AUGUSTA, Ga. - NBC Augusta 26 News has learned the victim of a deadly accident in downtown Augusta worked as a chaplain at University Hospital.

William Snyder died after a dump truck ran over the scooter he was driving Tuesday morning.

It happened at the corner of 15th and Jones Street.

A dump truck driver has been charged in the death of a scooter rider after an accident in downtown Augusta Tuesday morning.

Investigators have charged the driver of the truck, Samantha Rivers, with second-degree vehicular homicide.

Rivers is also charged with making an improper left turn and driving without a license.

If the company she worked for knowingly allowed her to drive the dump truck without having the proper certifications needed, then they should be held accountable as well. They are just as much to blame for this unfortunate accident as she is and should be sitting in court right along side of her.

Why is she driving a dump truck? Is this a city truck? If so, do they check for licenses before employment?? Condolences to the family.
