EVANS, Ga. - At least one black bear has been seen roaming parts of southern and eastern Columbia County during the past few days.

Wednesday morning, a bear was spotted on Plantation Hills Drive in the Woodbridge subdivision in Evans. The bear was also seen in the Northwood subdivision before being spotted in Woodbridge.

The bear escaped animal control officials in Woodbridge and was last seen in the Silver Lake subdivision.

Monday and Tuesday, the bear sightings had occurred along the Furys Ferry Road area of Martinez and Evans. Bear sightings have also been reported in the Grovetown area during the past few days.

According to Columbia County EMA Director Pam Tucker, Animal Control has been authorized to tranquilize the bear if they can get close enough to do it safely.

as long as its not hurting anyone, i don't see any harm in it. as long as no one threatens it it won't bother anyone. just make sure it gets where it needs to go safely.

Just leave the bears alone. They are just doing what bears do. They will follow the creek until they get to where they are going. Just leave them alone !
