Miss Georgia gives up crown
COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) - A second Miss Georgia has been crowned in One day after winning the title Saturday night at the annual pageant in Columbus, Gwinnett County school teacher Kristina Higgins relinquished the post, now filled by the runnerup, Emily Cook, a Marietta law student. She knew from previous competition (placing second last year, I believe ) what the commitments would be for a pageant winner. I'm sorry, but the PR excuse stinks to me. It sounds honorable but it masks a more private reason. You don't waste your time, others time, and take the place of someone else who could have been a contender only to walk away in flash after a 12 hour reflection of time conflict. I don't buy it.
