UPDATE: Body found in Thomson identified

THOMSON, Ga. – McDuffie County deputies are investigating a body found in Thomson Wednesday morning.

The person has been identified as Vicki Gunby. She was in her 50s.

NBC Augusta 26 News has learned two men who were walking to work found her in a ditch just after 8 a.m. along White Oak Road.

Investigators say they have not ruled out foul play, but are not saying how Gunby died.

Gunby's body is being sent to Georgia Bureau of Investigation for an autopsy.

Family members tell NBC Augusta 26 News Gunby was living with friends in Glascock County.

Recently, she moved to a different house, which was also on White Oak Road. Her body was found on that same road early Wednesday morning.

They describe Gunby as lighthearted and fun to be around and say there wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for someone.
