AUGUSTA, Ga. - A Hephzibah man is in jail after burglarizing a gas station and sending police on a long foot chase.
The man broke in the front door of the Raceway gas station on 3224 Deans Bridge Road at 4:37 a.m. Saturday.
A Richmond County Deputy heard the alarm, saw the man running and tried to get him to stop.
After a long foot chase through the woods behind the Krystal restaurant, the man was caught and arrested.
The incident report states the man tried to "kick" the officers and swung his "arms wildly." The officers were forced to use "soft hands" and "hard hands" tactics to get him handcuffed.
All of the money and cigarettes the burglar stole were returned to the owner of the gas station.
