Retired Fort Hood Major reacts to deadly shooting

AUGUSTA, Ga. - A retired major, who used to work at Fort Hood, says security forces acted quickly to protect the thousands of people who live and work on post.

Fort Hood is a quite a bit larger than Fort Gordon but both are run in a similar way.

Retired major, Bill Pinkerton says, as soon as the shooting happened today at Fort Hood, officers acted to protect the 45,000 people who live and work on post.

“If someone is conducting themselves in a criminal way, then we’re going to do our dead level best to protect our citizens on that post, the other families and so forth. We’re going to take them out,” Pinkerton said.

The former major also offered his prayers for the families of the victims.
