AUGUSTA, Ga. - Terry Ramsey was arrested and charged for the 2008 murder of Richard Paprocki.
NBC Augusta 26 News broke the news to Richard Paprocki's mother, Debra, that her son's accused killer had been shot and killed.
She says she's relieved that her son's killer is off the streets, but just wished she could have faced him in court.
Investigators say Ramsey shot Richard Paprocki nine times. Almost one month after his arrest, a judge set Ramsey's bond at $55,200 on the conditions that he live with his mother and not have any contact with witnesses.
Several sources tell 26 News at the time of his arrest, Ramsey had stage four Cancer.
"It was cheaper for the State to let him out, than have the State pay for his medical expenses. I could not believe that they would allow somebody out that murdered my son and he was able to walk the streets," said Debra Paprocki.
Investigators say Ramsey and Richard Paprocki got into a fight right before the shots were fired. Debra Paprocki says she was shocked to find out about the relationship her son had with his accused killer.
"My son helped him move into a trailer where the incident happened. He also bought a car off of him. When we received the title we were devastated to find out that he was close to the man who took his life,” said Debra Paprocki.
Investigators say two deputies shot and killed Ramsey while he held a knife to his estranged wife's throat Thursday Morning. News of Ramsey's death doesn't bring closure to the mother of the man he's accused of killing.
"I'm upset he didn't have to face myself and my family for what he did to my son,” said Debra Paprocki.
Ramsey was found guilty in 2006 for threatening an officer with a gun. Court records also show Ramsey was acquitted in 1992 on aggravated assault charges.
