UPDATE: Columbia County inmate charged with sex crime against cellmate

APPLING, Ga. – A Columbia County inmate is charged with sexual battery after his cellmate accused him of sodomy.

Bradley Houston,19, is charged with the sex crime after his 17-year-old cellmate accused Houston of sodomizing him in their jail cell at the Columbia County Detention Center.

Columbia County investigators say the incident happened sometime between 10:00 p.m. Thursday and 6:00 a.m. Friday. Deputies say the teen notified them Friday.

“At that moment the boy was removed from the cell," said Capt. Steve Morris, Columbia County Sheriff's Office.

Houston was initially in jail for a traffic crime. His bond for both crimes is around $3,300.

The 17-year-old is currently in a cell by himself. He’s charged with shoplifting and has a pending charge for terroristic threats. He’s expected to be out of jail in February.

I agree that if you do the crime you do the time and if you break the law jail is where you belong, however the young man that was attacked made a few mistakes in his life and he is in jail paying for those crimes, he did not rape or harm anyone to get incarcerated so he did not deserve to be violated in this manner. I am sure that the above comment by Aiken resident would not have the same opinion if that were his son this happened to. This is a county jail not a prison.

I guess the 17 yr old feels screwed just like his victims do. If you do wrong to someone then wrong will happen to you. 17 should use what happened to him a deterrant from doing wrong to other people and going to jail!
