Mom charged after baby found with burns

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Richmond County investigators have arrested an Augusta mom for child cruelty.

17 year-old Felicia Cave was arrested Monday afternoon.

Investigators began to question Cave after doctors noticed third degree burns, bite marks and scratch her three-month old daughter’s body.

Doctors also say x-rays showed an old skull fracture, four to six rib fractures and a possible femur fracture.

The Department of Family and Children Services was notified.

Felicia has been hanging around with them rich white girls who can afford daycare. I knew this was going to happen. She wants to hang out like those white girls and pretend she don't have to watch out for her kids 24/7. I think she got overwhelmed and went crazy.

First let me start by saying that I am outraged with some of the comments made about my cousin. She is a human being and I'm sure if you were the relative of the same case you would not want someone to degrade your family. she is not a POS, how rude and ignorant of you. This is nothing mental she is in her right mind and she knew what she was doing. The only help she needs is jail time. Also to anonymous that responded to gwen- she was not playing the black card, she may have not gave you enough info, but the black race for many years have been hated on the most we have been taught that we are ugly and not worthy of anything, and to hate our selves because we are black. Other races are like that too, but media wise blacks are portrayed in so many negative ways that it is hard for us to succeed and the quickest and easiest excuse is "it's because I'm black." No excuses now.

She does need help but I agree they need to give her the max. sentence for her crime she needs to be taught a lesson. She has a wonderful extended family that would have been more than happy to take care of the children. I feel very sad about this because no one who could have help didn't know until it was too late. Hopefully she will get jail time so she can reflect on her life.

My God some people just make it so easy for these teen moms to get away with anything. In the state of Georgia you are considered a legal adult at 17. Therefore you are not a child. You were grown enough to lay down and make that baby so be grown enough to take whatever punishment you get for harming that child. Don't make stupid excuses for these idiots to harm their kids. That infant is the innocent one who deserves help. Mom deserves jail time. Thats all she deserves. She isn't mental she is stupid.

The mother evidently needs mental help and should not be allowed to have children under her care. I understand the woman also has a older child as well. Both children should be removed and a full investigation made and criminal charges filed if needed.

oh here we go with the "race card" again. I am so sick of seeing folks try and turn a sad story like this into a "race related" incident. White-Black-Red-Blue; IT DOES NOT MATTER !! What should matter is that this little child is now safe and has medical treatment and that the so called "mother" will hopefully be in jail for a long time. This is not about the black-white issue; it is about a child who never deserved to be treated with such cruelty. This is the reason why young kids shouldn't have children. They don't understand the whole term responsibility. This child deserves the best just like all children do. WORTHLESS POS and sorry excuse for a mother. She should suffer the same as this poor little child did. This innocent baby has suffered more in her 3 months than most of us will our entire life. Thank God for the doctors who saved this child and pray that the state will follow through with prosecuting the "mother" to the full extent of the law. I pray this child is placed with a loving family that will cherish her and take care of her the way she was suppose to be taken care of in the first place.
