Stomach Flu Outbreak At Lewiston Elementary

Lewiston Elementary school has had an outbreak of a highly contagious norovirus, more commonly known as the stomach flu.

On Friday almost 300 students were absent, the school has about 800 students total.

The school told us about it Friday and says they are encouraging kids to wash their hands more and they are cleaning classrooms and asking children who are sick to stay at home.

The school is also letting parents check their kids out of school early on Friday.

Some of the symptoms include nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhea. This infection is usually brief lasting one to two days.

If parents have any questions they can call the Board of Education.

My whole entire family has this stomach flu. Vomiting, diaherra, abdomial pain, fever,chilling,body aching. My cousin vomited so much for so long she past out. We live in Chattanooga, TN. I called my daughters school today 1-27-09 and they advised me that they had had a steady stream of kids vomiting and diherria..They said that they couldn't keep the bathrooms and classrooms clean.

Sunday morning 2/3/08 my nephew got sick vomitting all day followed with diahrea and a fever til Friday, Wed.2/6 my daughter vomitted all day with a low fever 96.4 w/ diarhea. Thur.2/7 both me and my daughter slept all day,that night I vomitted from 10:00 p.m til 6:00 a.m. Frid.2/8 I had a fever of 101.9 w/ body aches,chills, and headache til that night. Sat.2/9 woke up with headache, stomache pains, sore throat and diareha.Is it a supernorovirus?

My whole family of 6 are sick with some kind of virus. Great way to spend Christmas! My husband was in bed two days and children have had loose stools for 3 and 4 days so far. Terrible stomach flu.

I am an adult who lives in Augusta and I woke up with this Tues morning. My stomach flu lasted until today, Sat. So far so good. It is really bad stuff. I thought I was going to the cemetery.
