It seems like everyone is sneezing and coughing this Spring, even if they don't have allergies.

Though they love the outdoors, the Burke sisters say allergy season has taken its toll.

“I think I am falling into a relapse because I could not even get out of bed this morning,” said Jennifer Burke, allergy sufferer.

Marked by sniffs, sneezes and coughs, the season has their kids feeling it too.

“They both get runny noses especially my youngest one she's keeps a runny nose,” said Lindsay Burke, allergy sufferer.

Tree pollen has been around for weeks and grass pollen will be here before we know it.

Dr. Donnie Dunagan is an Allergist. He says surviving the season could be hard on everyone.

“Even for those people that don't have allergies there is so much pollen out there it seems to be irritant,” said Dr. Dunagan.

He says the first step in relief is avoidance.

“One thing you should do is limit activity outside during the late afternoon. The pollen counts are much higher in the morning,” said Dr. Dunagan.

Dr. Dunagan says patients should keep windows closed, use an air conditioner, make sure to change filters and to relieve symptoms try over the counter medication Zyrtec.

“That will help with itchy eyes, itchy nose and some of the drainage and sneezing they have,” he said.

Dr. Dunagan says if you have pets, bathe them regularly to keep pollen off their fur and out of your house.

The allergy season is expected to last through June.
