Georgia joins list of states with E.coli outbreak

ATLANTA (AP) - Health officials say a Midwest outbreak of E.
coli traced to recalled beef has spawned at least one case in
Georgia.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says Georgia
has one lab-confirmed case of a bacterial infection that matches
the 44 previously reported cases in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana,
Kentucky and New York.

The great majority of cases were in Ohio and Michigan. The outbreak has been traced to beef sold in Kroger supermarkets in Michigan and Ohio. The Kroger Co. last month recalled ground beef sold in Michigan and Ohio stores and this month expanded it to include other states.
