In Georgia, temperatures over 100 degrees are not an uncommon thing. When it gets that hot outside, you're better off indoors; unless you've got a pool.

But the water can be dangerous if the temperature gets into the triple digits. Many are still in danger of heat exhaustion.

At Bernie Ward Community Center, camp counselor Adrienne Bowman watches over her day campers.

“They'll take water breaks,” said Bowman. “We'll take them to the restroom where they have a drinking fountain so they're getting an adequate amount of water while they're out here swimming in the hot sun.”

With all of the swimming, splashing and playing around, the pool is a fun, relaxing place to be, but camp counselors are serious when it comes to looking for the signs of too much sun.

“We usually look for if they're feeling sick or looking drowsy, about to throw up or about to faint or real pale in the face, or start to sweat real badly,” said fellow counselor, Maraya Turner.

“It's definitely hot and it can be exhausting sometimes, it just takes the air right out of you,” said Bowman.
