South Carolina gets an "F" for tobacco control
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - A report card from the American Lung Association has flunked South Carolina for how it handles smoking. The organization gives the state an "F'' in all four items measured in its American Lung Association State of Tobacco Control report card released Tuesday. The report card says South Carolina should spend more than the roughly $1 million spent on tobacco prevention last year. The organization also says the state doesn't do enough to help its The report was especially critical of South Carolina's 7-cents-a-pack cigarette tax, the lowest in the nation.
