Two different versions of the calendar are available, one featuring male models and one featuring female models. All of the models work with Southside Fire/EMS and volunteer their time to attend a photo shoot, and then to sell the calendars. Calendars sell for $10 each.
The money raised from the calendars goes to the Southeastern Firefighters Burn Foundation. They support the burn center at Doctor's Hospital.
They hope to raise 20 to 25 thousand dollars from sales. This is the fourth year that Southside Fire/EMS has published a male version of the calendar, and the first year publishing a twelve month female version. According to Kelly Paul, Public Relations Officer for the Southside Fire/EMS, "the females of Southside have always been involved by helping to sell the calendars but last year expressed an interest in doing their own version. In 2007 we published a poster with a grid calendar with the girls, and this year ordered as many female calendars as we did male calendars. Our hope is to raise twice as much money this year for burn victims."
Recently Southside Fire/ EMS donated close to $15,000 to the Southeastern Firefighters Burn Foundation from the sale of the 2007 calendars, their annual Fire and Ice Ball, and other fundraising efforts.
The calendars were printed earlier this year so that people could purchase them as holiday gifts, and so that they could be sold at a firefighters conference in Atlanta this past week.
