NBC Augusta has learned MRSA bacterial infection is spreading through the Augusta Circuit Public Defender's office.
A source from the public defender's office gave NBC Augusta several in-house e-mails warning employees about the spread of the highly contagious MRSA.
We've learned at least four people who work at that office have been diagnosed with MRSA.
We're being told one employee who was battling the bacteria was just released from the hospital.
The concern from other employees at the public defenders office is that not enough is being done to stop the spread of the staph infection.
NBC Augusta tried to contact the Augusta office and was told the public defender was not in the office.
A few minutes after that call, another e-mail was sent to employees in the public defender's office stating not to release any information regarding the spread of MRSA in that office.
