Record Warmth Invades Augusta In December

With a strong area of high pressure in control over the southeast through mid-week, temperatures in Georgia-Carolina are soaring to record levels for this time of year.

Sunday's high of 81 broke the old record of 80, set in 1966.  Ironically, last year on December 9, we set a record low of 15.

The heat wave is expected to continue through Wednesday or Thursday, with highs each day near or above current record highs on the books for Augusta.

A change in the jet stream pattern is expected to relieve us of the unusual warmth by the weekend, with temperatures returning to more normal levels, and the potential for rain.
