Georgia, Florida and Alabama Governors Meet To Discuss Sharing Water

Governor Perdue will meet today in Tallahassee with the governors of Florida and Alabama in an effort to end a decades-long battle over water.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers already has cut the flow of
water from Lake Lanier.

Last week, water managers in south Florida approved the region's
tighest water restrictions as drought conditions persited -- limiting outside watering to once a week from Orlando south to the Keys.

Like much of the Southeast, Florida is seeing its worst drought in decades as it enters a seven-month dry season.

Florida officials have said they need more water from Georgia for Apalachicola Bay to help the struggling seafood industry.
