Commissioners Give TEE Center Project Green Light

By NBC Augusta Staff

If all goes according to plan, Augusta could have its new Trade Exhibition and Event Center in two years.

Tuesday, commissioners voted to move forward with finding a developer for the project.

They also voted to implement a transportation and tourism fee that will help pay for the TEE Center.

It goes into effect March 1. The county plans to take $750,000 a year from that fee to improve Augusta's heritage areas, like the Bethlehem and Laney-Walker communities.
