Thirty-five families forced to move from Gilbert Manor now have to pay more rent.
Augusta's Housing Authority says several of the tenants could pay from $34 to $139 more every month.
That's because Gilbert Manor was one of the least expensive housing developments in Augusta. The housing authority says it was an oversight.
"How was it overlooked? It was simply an error on our part, we completely missed it and we're sorry we did," said Buddy Oglefield of the Augusta Housing Authority.
"As soon as we learned about it though we informed the families of the situation," Oglefield said.
The housing authority has sent a request to Housing and Urban Development asking them to temporarily lower rent for those involved. They have not received a response yet.
