Mayor Deke Copenhaver welcomed visitors to the city during his annual reception at the Augusta Botanical Gardens Monday night. More than 50 restaurants served up free food at tonight's reception, which was a great way to welcome first timers and locals to Masters Week.
Whether you're a local or an out-of-towner it's a great way to celebrate Augusta's most famous event.
Barry Kinsey lives in Augusta, but this is his first time at the Mayor's Reception.
"It's a great place to do with all this open area. It will hold plenty of people too. You can open the gate and let them come and go," said Barry Kinsey, Augusta.
Thousands of visitors say an event of this magnitude makes them feel welcome.
Mayor Copenhaver honored two-time Masters champion Ben Crenshaw with a key to the city. He says his memories of Augusta go back to 1972.
"I had the most wonderful things happen to me in this city. This place really gets into your blood," said Crenshaw.
A ten-year tradition bringing not only locals together, but also people from around the world.
There are lot of other events in honor of the Masters in Augusta this week.
Tuesday night you can rock out for a good cause at the annual Drive For Show Rock Fore Dough concert. That's at the First Tee of Augusta on 3165 Damascus Road. The concert begins at 4:30 p.m. and tickets are $35. It's a great cause that raises money for First Tee of Augusta.
The organization teaches children values and helps build character through the game of Golf.
Wednesday, Par 3 night, most restaurants along Washington Road will have special events going on after the tournament.
