The iconic golfers, the rolling landscape and the rich history of the Augusta National have all been covered this week.
Among the many things that make the Masters so special, two things stand out in the crowd. Patrons are very well mannered and well dressed.
“I love watching the fashion. I've never been to the Kentucky Derby, but to me, I'd imagine it would be somewhat similar,” Amy Lance, a fashionable patron in a lace dress with matching shades and hat, said.
“It's a golf tournament and the best course in the country, you gotta make it sparkle,” Bryan McAleer said about his Masters style. “The ensemble today, a Nantucket red, played off the boat shoe, played off the Croakie, it's kind of New York meets Augusta, Georgia.”
“This is my brother, we didn't know we'd be dressing alike today,” Mark Hudson’s sister said of their matching turquoise outfits.
“I’m trying to stay cool, comfortable. I thought it was fun and colorful. I like to wear colorful things,” Masters patron Holly Welsh said about her short black skirt covered in pink flamingos.
With 365 acres to cover at the Augusta National, most visitors opt for comfort, but sometimes it's fashion over function.
“I like to promote loudmouthgolf.com. They have two dozen varieties of these kinds of clothes,” Scott Foreman said about his bright orange and plaid pantsuit.
“I knew Masters colors were green and white, so I paired it (green shirt) with white shorts. These are my first time wearing these shoes and they're really comfortable,” First-time visitor Erin Gates said of her shorts set paired with jeweled platform flip-flops.
Color was also important for Erin's mom, Leslie, who modeled a bright watermelon-themed top with sequin flip-flops.
“They're (the shoes) holding up so far, the shoes'll hold up. Its whether or not I will,” Gates laughed. “I can take ‘em off in the car on the ride home.”
With two days to go, heads will keep turning to look at more than just the game.
“There may be a seersucker; there may be a whale pant involved. It's a long weekend, gotta keep it diversified, gotta mix it up, gotta surprise ‘em everyday,” McAleer said.
