Georgia Outdoor Burn Ban Goes Into Effect Thursday

By NBC Augusta Staff

If you have any trash you want to get rid of you only have through Wednesday to burn it in Georgia.

On Thursday, May 1, the statewide burning ban goes into effect.

The reason is because during the summer, Georgia's ozone levels can reach unhealthy levels and burning would make the levels even worse.

The burn ban lasts through the end of September.

South Carolina does not have a generic ban, but if weather conditions are bad for that day they will ask people to put off burning.
