Another Augusta Neighborhood Targeted By Burglars

By NBCAugusta Reporters

First the Hill area, now another Augusta neighborhood is being targeted by burglars.

Four homes in Dogwood Estates were broken in to and burglarized in just 12 hours.

Gwendolyn Burse’s home was robbed Monday morning.

"We never had any problems with break-ins, even being afraid to leave your house or anything, never," she said.

Burse says the robber used a brick to break a bedroom window.

"I'm thinking anywhere from $2,000 to $2,500 worth of stuff is gone," Burse said.

Burse says thieves took an assortment of electronics including video games and an iPod.

"We are working class people and it's not fair for us to work and earn our dollars and buy things and somebody can just come in and take it just like that. It's just not fair," Burse said.

People who live in the Dogwood Estates neighborhood say they're talking about starting a neighborhood watch program.

Investigators with the Richmond County Sheriff's Office tell NBC Augusta they're asking for the public's help. If you have any information about the break-ins, call the sheriff's office.

For Pete's sake, please stop using the term robber for burglar. The two terms are not interchangeable. There are distinct differences. Do you do this for shock value (robbed/robber sounds better than burglar), or do you really not know the difference?
