Update: Victim In Deadly Car Crash Identified

NBC Augusta has learned the name of the woman who died in a car crash Thursday night in Augusta.

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office tells us Janet Newman of Blythe crashed her car through a fence and hit a tree.

The car then caught fire. The accident happened on Deans Bridge Road near Bath-Edie Road.

The coroner tells us the car exploded and Newman was badly burned.

No word on what caused the accident, but no one else was involved.
