SC Teenager Wins $35 Million Powerball Ticket

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Lottery officials say a 19-year-old Gaston
construction worker won the $35.3 million Powerball jackpot.

Jonathan Vargas says Saturday's ticket was the first time he had
played the lottery and he used the ages his brothers, sister and
mother will be this year to pick the winning numbers.

He says he plans to buy his mother a house with his winnings and may go to college.

Lottery director Ernie Passailaigue says Vargas is the first South Carolinian to win the Powerball jackpot.

Other winning tickets sold in South Carolina were to players who lived
elsewhere.

The numbers drawn Saturday were: 12-14-15-21-43, Powerball: 30.
The Power Play was three.
