200 Airmen Deploy From Shaw AFB To Asia

SUMTER, S.C. (AP) - More than 200 airmen from Shaw Air Force
Base in Sumter are heading back to southwest Asia to support the
war on terror.

The Item of Sumter reports the members of the 77th Fighter Squadron who left Thursday are part of a group of about 350 Shaw
personnel headed to the region.

Maj. Jason Mitchell heads flight line mechanics at Shaw and says he's excited and concerned about the deployment.

Mitchell says the group has been training for months. He says
he's most concerned about the heat. Temperatures in the deployment
area will be in the 110s.
