A Juvenile Court Judge ruled Friday to release portions of Anthony Joe's extensive juvenile record. Joe is accused of killing David Reader, a cellist with the Augusta Symphony.

Richmond County investigators say Joe shot and killed Reader May 11 in front of East Augusta Commons.

They say Reader was there to buy drugs.

NBC Augusta was the only television station in the courtroom Friday when Juvenile Judge William Sams made his ruling.

"In making my ruling, I have balanced the juvenile against the confidential right against the public's right to know. I have come down on the side of the public's right to know," the Judge said.

In court Friday, we also learned a lot more about the accused killer's past. Joe was charged with involuntary manslaughter in 2001, but was never prosecuted in the death of a 17-month old. Joe was just 12 years old when he was charged.

We also learned he was sentenced to five years for a 2003 felony robbery in Atlanta, but not all of that time was spent in jail.

The judge also made reference to burglaries and batteries that Joe had committed.

The question that need to be asked is why was this person not serving his time. I mean, regardless of the age he committed any crime, he should have been serving all the time given and then some. I am just baffeled that another persons' life had to be taken before we as citizen are informed about his background. What's next?
