Augusta fire investigator suspended following DUI arrest

By NBCAugusta Producers

Augusta fire investigator Lt. G.B. Hannan has been suspended from the department for driving under the influence.

Hannan is the lead arson investigator for the Augusta-Richmond County Fire Department.

Augusta-Richmond County's Fire Chief, Howard Willis, tells NBC Augusta Hannan is on paid administrative leave.

Augusta's Solicitor, Harold Jones, says Hannan was pulled over and arrested in downtown Augusta Saturday night after blowing a .21 on a breathalyzer test.

The legal blood alcohol content level in Georgia is .08.

NBC Augusta has learned the fire department is doing an internal investigation and plans to meet with Hannan on Monday.

Hannan is scheduled to be in court on July 15.
