If you've always wanted an SUV car dealers say now is the time to buy.
Most trucks and sport utility vehicles are gas guzzlers and with soaring prices at the pump, it's been tough for car dealers to move them off their lots.
“I have a lot of customers and they're talking about SUVs. They say I would buy an SUV but because of the high gas prices, I'm going to stick to a car," said Taurus Ross, Taylor Toyota.
Most truck and SUV manufacturers are taking extra steps to earn your business.
"In terms of SUVs, Chevrolet has gotten really aggressive with incentives for the consumer," said Adam Logemann, Vice President of Gordon Chevrolet.
He said with bonus cash and rebates you can expect to save major cash for big vehicles.
"Those are rebates that we haven't seen in years and what's driving that is Chevy's determined to sell some trucks and SUVs. They want to encourage consumers to come in and buy," said Logemann.
He's not the only dealership trying to get customers to buy big.
Salesmen at Taylor Toyota in North Augusta said they're doing what can to attract SUV buyers.
This Fourth of July, they're having a Blowout sale with 0 percent financing and no payments for six months.
Even with these big deals on big vehicles, some dealerships are worried it won't be enough to move SUVs off their lots.
"Chevy realizes that the buyers are out there, but they're a little more attentive due to gas prices,” said Logemann.
If you're looking for an SUV, but you still want to save at the pump, Chevrolet offers a Tahoe Hybrid. It gets up to 35 miles per hour before the engine even cuts on and that's great for city drivers.
"A lot of SUV drivers do in town driving, they don't do a lot of highway driving,” said Logemann.
Taylor Toyota says the engine in its Highlander Hybrid gets 27 miles a gallon in city driving.
So, if you've got your heart set on an SUV, consider a Hybrid or these great incentives on other models.
"Now is the time to buy an SUV, I've been here with Toyota for about four to five years and I've never seen the rebates that Toyota is putting out in my whole life," said Ross.
If you have an SUV and are worried about the trade-in value, some dealers are offering up to $1,000 cash back for your trade-in.
