The Augusta National Golf Club makes annual contributions to charitable groups. This year, they decided to put the power in the hands of their employees.

Each club employee was given the chance to designate $1000 to an organization of their choice.

On Tuesday, Augusta National employees gave checks to two of those groups, including the Augusta Mini Theater.

The non- profit group is using the money to help upgrade to a new home.

The theater's new school will continue providing fine arts training to the youth in the community.

The new building came with a hefty price tag, starting at $2.3 million.

Mini Theatre founder Tyrone Butler was just starting to worry about how to finance it all when he got the call from Augusta National.

“I was sitting going how can we? We're building a $2.3 million arts school, the economy is bad, gas prices, people are talking about staying home. How in the world am I going to pay for this? The mini theater depends on the community and here comes the call,” said Butler

The Mini Theatre is currently moving from its old building in downtown Augusta to the new facility on Deans Bridge Road.

In all, the theatre received $18,000 dollars from Augusta National. Another charitable organization, Golden Harvest, also received donations from Augusta National totaling $23,000.
