Community activist Woody Merry and coliseum authority board member William Fennoy will both have jury trials.
A judge formally charged the men Friday morning after both pled not guilty to simple assault.
The charges stem from a fight outside a coliseum authority meeting in May.
The men got into an argument when Merry asked Fennoy why he didn't attend a prior meeting.
Witnesses say Fennoy punched Merry in the face and kicked him on the ground.
Fennoy says it was self defense.
