Deputies say fire at Aiken Summary Court is suspicious

Investigators are calling a fire at the Aiken County Summary Court in New Ellenton suspicious.

The fire happened Thursday night. A passerby spotted the fire and the New Ellenton Fire Department responded within minutes. The building received moderate smoke and heat damage.

An investigation by ACSO forensic investigators found the fire was started immediately outside the building, it burned through an exterior wall and damaged an office and storage area.

Anyone with information about this fire is asked to contact the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office: (800) 922-9709.

Callers can remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of between $50 and $1000.
