Reese Hoffa finishes 7th in final

Columbia County's own Reese Hoffa finished seventh in the Olympic shot-put final in Beijing.

A foul on Reese's sixth and final attempt insured that for the second straight Games, he will come home empty-handed.

NBC Augusta spoke with Reese’s mom, Vicki Hoffa, she says the family is proud of Reese and plan to have a family party tonight to watch the primetime replay of Reese competing.

Another American did medal. From the NBC LIVE Blog: Flashbulbs are going off all over the stadium as fans try to capture the medal ceremony for the men's shot put. Christian Cantwell (USA) gets a nice ovation from the crowd. Applause is louder for gold medalist Tomasz Majewski of Poland who acknowledges the fans with an emphatic fist pump.
