James Brown case might be nearing close

By NBC Augusta Staff

The battle over James Brown's estate could soon be coming to an end.

The South Carolina Attorney General's Office said about 90 percent of the issues in the case have been resolved and that the judge and attorneys are waiting to wrap up the last details before releasing any specifics.

However, there might not be much money left in the estate.

On Tuesday, a representative for one creditor says Brown's estate owes his client $31 million.

The estate also owes other creditors large sums of money.

Also in court Tuesday, two people claimed Brown was their brother.

Kevin Jones of Louisiana said that he, his three sisters and two deceased brothers have the same biological father as Brown.

He said he plans to undergo DNA testing to prove his claim.

Jones said his decision to come forward is not motivated by money.

The next court hearing is set for September
