Macon named Ga. city with best water

MACON, Ga. (AP) - What sets Macon apart from the rest of the
state is flowing out of its taps.

This week the Georgia Association of Water Professionals voted
Macon the city with the best-tasting tap water in the state. Macon
beat out Clayton County, Barnesville, Albany, Dalton and Savannah
for the title.

Each city brought a sealed gallon jug to the association's
conference in College Park, where five judges used scorecards to
rate each sample. The judges said Macon's was clean and crisp with
the least amount of taste.

Now the city will vie for more superlatives at the American
Water Works Association's international finals in San Diego in May.
