One in five people in the United States suffer from fatigue but there is a difference between being tired and having a diagnosable problem.

Nurse practitioner Victoria Burt says that sleep problems could increase your chance of experiencing fatigue.

Some of the reasons why you may experience fatigue are: Sleep apnea, drastic change in work schedule, lack of vitamins or minerals. Diseases such as heart, lung, diabetes and thyroid problems would be a reason for feeling sluggish.

There are some treatments available. Exercise regularly,
find ways to learn how to relax and manage stress, avoid coffee, tea, and other caffeine and try to decrease your alcohol intake.

Burt says be careful when you buy energy drinks. Some of the drinks are not FDA approved.

If you want more information about ways to treat fatigue, call (706) 722-9011.
