People in Richmond, Aiken and Columbia counties can now have their groceries delivered right to their door step.

The service is provided by a new business called, CJ's Groceries-2-Go. The operation is the brainchild of owners Chris Cloy and James Edmonds.

"Once I heard it, it was gold to me," said Edmonds.

He and partner Cloy were brainstorming in the Waffle House where Cloy works, trying to come up with the next great small business idea that would both be unique to the CSRA and have low over-head costs.

What Cloy and Edmonds thought up was a grocery shopping and delivery business, because as they put it, ‘who doesn't hate shopping for groceries?’

"I think the most important thing people don't like is the time consumption,” said Cloy. “Everyone's schedule is so busy these days.”

Cloy says, their service gives people more free time to be with family or just relax.

At CJ's Groceries-2-Go, customers can send in their grocery lists either online or call it in by phone. Customers can choose delivery times and even which store they want to shop from. It's a service that Cloy and Edmonds feel is perfect for busy mothers and the elderly alike.

Delivery costs range from $15-35, but it's money that customers feel is well spent.

"The very first customer we had said that she saved more money paying us than what she would've spent just buying things she really didn't intend to buy,” said Cloy. “If she goes in with a list, she usually adds about $50-60 dollars in stuff she didn't even want."

The service might also be good for those with weak will power around the snack aisle.

"If somebody's on a diet and they want to buy healthy, they make their healthy list,” said Edmonds. “But when they get to the store they gotta pass the Debbie Cakes eventually. We'll walk past the Debbie Cakes."

Whether your motivation is to save time, money or pass up the junk food, CJ's Groceries-2-Go might be the solution for you.

Sounds like we are turning the clock back to 1950. During that time my Mother always had groceries delivered, but they came on a bicycle and the rider was tipped.
