The votes are in, and things will stay the same in Graniteville, Vaucluse and Warrenville.
Voters shot down the bid to incorporate the communities into a new city by nearly two to one.
1331 voters opposed incorporation, 763 were for it.
Voters favored the name Horse Creek for the area: it drew one-third of the vote, beating Gregg Township and GVW Tri-City.
125 folks chose to write-in other names. Those included such gems as "Nowhere" and "Money Pit."
But folks on both sides of the issue say this race and its results were no joke.
"I'm very elated and very very happy that this went so that the people are still allowed to own their property and so forth," said Billy Jones who opposed incorporation.
"It's a disappointment in that people just don't understand the needs we could've handled ourselves if we could see it together," said Tina Bevington, who was for it.
Supporters of incorporation would not rule out pushing for it again in the future. But for now, things are settled in the communities which were very divided.
