NBC Augusta is learning more about a suspect, who's wanted for beating up an 81-year-old man and locking him up for two days.
Investigators say Troy Deloatch and his mother attacked William Palmer on Friday and locked him in his bedroom where he was unable to get out.

Deloatch has been convicted of several other crimes in the past decade. In 1996 he was convicted for robbery, rape and aggravated sodomy. In 2007, he was convicted for battery. Also in 2007, he was arrested for armed robbery.

Investigators say Deloatch and his mother went to Palmer's home in Hyde Park Friday afternoon. Palmer let them in the house. That's when investigators say Deloatch and his mother beat him. Investigators found Palmer on Sunday. Friends and family say they can't believe anyone would do this to an 81-year-old man.

"They left him there for dead. They left him in the room for days with no food or water," said Carla Holmes, friend.

"I think it's a tragedy and I hope who ever did this, will get justice," said Ricarlos Butler, Palmer's nephew.

Family members tell NBCAugusta Palmer was beaten with a metal baseball bat several times in the head, arms and stomach and has two broken bones. He's still in the hospital. Investigators tell NBCAugusta Mary Deloatch turned herself in Monday. She's being held at the Richmond County Jail.

I think that is very sickly, for a mother to do crime with they kids. They need to be put under the jail.

Leave both of them in jail and give them prison time; they do not deserve to walk the streets. No one is safe anymore.
